Holiday-themed story times

NORWAY — In February, Norway Memorial Library will be presenting themed story times with a focus on the annual holidays of the month. Some of the books featured will be, “Parade” by Donald Crews, “The Day it Rained Hearts” by Felicia Bond, “Bringing in the New Year” by Grace Lin, and “Black is Brown is Tan” by Arnold Adoff.

On Wednesday mornings at 10:30 and afternoons at 1:30, preschool aged children and their parents and caregivers enjoy hearing stories, singing songs and making crafts.

On Friday mornings at 10:30 children ages 0 to 2 enjoy story times, finger plays, songs and rhymes that build reading readiness skills.

Legion public supper, dance

PARIS — A public supper and dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Foster-Carroll American Legion Hall.

The Auxiliary will serve a ham dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Music will be provided by the Jones Band from 7 to 10 p.m.

Dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under. Dance is $5. For more information, call 743-6289.

PPL: Presidents’ favorite stories

PARIS — What did President Washington and President Lincoln like to read when they were children? Find out at the Paris Public Library at noon Monday, Feb. 18. Bring a blanket, lunch and drink. Eat while listening to some of their favorite stories as children. Birthday cupcakes and raisins will be provided for dessert. All ages are welcome.

Seniors plan Chinese auction

PERU — A Chinese Auction will be held at the next meeting of the Neighborly Seniors at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Old Peru School. The January meeting was cancelled because of the weather, so the election of officers will be held at this meeting.
