DIXFIELD — Construction on the town garage and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund are among the agenda items for the selectmen’s meeting Monday, Feb. 25.
Interim Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky said Friday afternoon that following the recent snowstorms, the town garage was left with “a pretty bad roof leak.
“The 15 inches of snow that came in a couple of weeks ago did a number on us, and after the weather warmed up, the snow melted and caused a nasty leak,” Skibitsky explained. “We’re going to decide what we want to do and see if we can get someone in there to assess the structure and possibly fix it.”
In other business, Skibitsky said the board will also discuss the possibility of submitting an application for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
“It’s a state fund that allows us to get financing at competitive rates,” Skibitsky said. “There’s $600,000 involved, and it would allow us to do work on the water lines on Pine Street, High Street, Dix Street and Coburn Avenue. We’d be looking at a major project.”
Skibitsky clarified that the funds apply to only “water aspects of construction,” and ultimate approval “must come from the town.”
“I’ll be taking it before the selectmen to see what they think, and we’ll go from there,” he said.
