1940 – 2013

LEWISTON- Gilman Joseph Boucher, 72, of Lewiston passed away Monday, Feb 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in St. Agathe on Sept. 22, 1940, the son of O’Neil and Annie (Chasse) Boucher.

Gil attended St. Mary’s School and Lewiston High School.

On July 22, 1963, he married his wife, the former Carlene Michaud, with whom he had two sons David and Brian.

He was employed by his father as a mechanic and then went on to own his own business, Gil’s Auto Repair at 6 South Temple St. in Lewiston. He was a certified auto mechanic and was a lover of cars. He took great pride as a painting specialist in restoration and was an expert in auto body repair.

He was Past President of the LA Bowling Association and sponsored his own team. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycling. He did extensive traveling with his wife abroad to Geneva, Switzerland, The Dominican Republic, Paris, France and Fatima. He went on several carnival cruises visiting Jamaica, St. Thomas, St. Marteen, Caymen Islands, Costa Rica and Cozumel, Mexico.

He is survived by his wife, Carlene Boucher of Lewiston; his mother, Annie Boucher of Lewiston; one son, David and his wife, Christine, of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Savanah, and a grandson Thomas, both of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Lexi of Lewiston; two sisters, Linda Theberge and her companion, Paul Gemme, of Lewiston, and Pauline Lacoste and her husband, Guy, of Rockland; two brothers, Raymond Boucher of New Hampshire and Donald Boucher of Poland; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Brian Boucher, in 1996; and his father, O’Neil Boucher.
