PARIS — A Peru man pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse of a minor Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Randy L. Varnum, 40, of Pleasant Street, is accused of committing a sexual act with a girl in June 2012. According to the indictment, the girl was 14 or 15 years old at the time of the incident.

The case was investigated by Maine State Trooper Ronald Turnick. Varnum was indicted in February. His next court appearance is set for July 2.
