ALFRED (AP) — A Maine man convicted of killing two brothers in Biddeford failed to appear for the final hearing in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the victims’ mother.
A sheriff’s deputy informed the judge before Thursday’s hearing that Rory Holland refused to get into a transport vehicle at the Maine State Prison in Warren to go to York County Superior Court and face his victims’ mother, Tammy Cole.
The judge had previously warned Holland that the hearing would proceed even in his absence. He did not have a lawyer.
Holland was convicted of killing 21-year-old Derek Greene and 19-year-old Gage Greene in June 2009.
The Portland Press Herald reported that in Thursday’s hearing Cole’s attorney sought $3.25 million.
The judge did not immediately rule.
