Sherwood Heights Elementary School in Auburn celebrated Pi Day (3.14) on Thursday. Principal Laura Shaw said the math-morale-boosting day was filled with math-related activities, culminating with a school-wide live video broadcast of pie-in-the-face contest winners. Second-grade teacher Krissy Thompson got the pie in the face because her class raised the most money for a charity auction. Anna Dufresne, left, won the sixth-grade pi contest, for which she memorized 112 digits of pi, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, beginning with 3.14 and presumably infinite. Computers have generated the decimal representation to more than 10 trillion digits, according to Wikipedia.
