PARIS — A recent report estimates that Maine will have a deficit in the number of trained computer science and information technology professionals needed to fill future jobs. That shortfall is estimated at 977 positions by 2018.

During the upcoming summer sessions, University College at South Paris will offer a number of high-quality computer science and IT courses from the UMS campuses as well as related support services that help learners achieve their goals. Courses range from introduction to computing to Web page design. These courses lead to UMS degrees in in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, applied technical leadership, information security and more.

Summer courses can offer many advantages. Taking a course or two during the summer can help students keep their degree programs on track, lighten the schedule in upcoming semesters and help them progress more rapidly toward graduation.

Most summer courses will be offered online. University College at South Paris is equipped with state-of-the-art computer labs, and professionals are happy to help students get started in online courses. Students without high-speed Internet access at home can participate in online courses at the center.
