PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – A city man has been found guilty of assault for throwing pieces of a bagel at a woman.
Kevin Cosgrove, 39, represented himself in court last week. He was accused of throwing pieces of bagel at a woman who was bringing bags of clothes to a Salvation Army drop box.
The woman testified she felt something hit her before noticing pieces of bagel on the ground. She said she saw Cosgrove and another man in the alley and promptly left because the men made her nervous.
Cosgrove later told police he was feeding the birds.
Cosgrove was fined $240 dollars for littering. He will have to pay a $50 fine on the assault charge if he gets in trouble again within the next two years.
