It’s just plain nuts to have just anybody walking around with a gun on their hip. What would be the reason?
Maine, when compared with most other states, is relatively violent crime free and thankfully so.
So, before any rash and hasty decisions are made we need to have a bigger discussion and reason for it. Carrying a firearm is a serious responsibility because carrying a gun and knowing when and how to use it when the “poop” hits the fan are two different things.
Also who will decide who gets to carry?
Retired law enforcement is a no brainer.
