1927 – 2013

LEWISTON — Rosaire Bouchard, 85, of Auburn, passed away Saturday, April 20, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Frenchville, May 27, 1927, son of the late Adelard and Anna Dubois Bouchard. He was educated in Frenchville and Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School. He also received his General Education Certificate from the city of Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1947.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1946 and served for 23 years as a medical specialist. He worked for the Red Cross for 12 years after retiring from the Army and continued as a volunteer.

He was married to Rita Morin, Sept. 18, 1948, and she predeceased him Feb. 22, 1996. Rosaire was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10019 and the Rev. Peter Conroy Council 2516 4th degree of Holy Family, also a member of VFW 9150. He was an avid walker, enjoyed watching sports and traveling.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol Roberts and husband, Michael, of Palm Coast, Fla., Janice Gawrys and husband, Daniel, of Lisbon, and Jacqueline Long and husband, James, of Turner; four grandchildren, Douglas and Eric Roberts, Steven Stone and Tyler Gawrys; and two great grandchildren, Devin and Mason Roberts; two sisters, Lucienne Rossignol of Lewiston and Theoline Croteau of Lewiston; a brother, Roland Bouchard and wife, Jacqueline, of Lewiston; and his longtime companion, Simone Dionne, of Auburn.

He will always be remembered by his family and friends.
