I just read an article in the Sun Journal (April 22) stating there will be two turn lanes added at Mount Auburn Avenue and Park Avenue, based on recent studies completed after neighbors complained.

In the area is a farm, a cemetery and a church. The estimated cost is $636,000.

Last year turning lanes were added at Minot Avenue and Hotel Road at considerable expense.

In both of those areas, the speed limit is 35 mph.

However, on Route 4 at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive a left turning lane cannot be added where the speed limit is 55 mph and people have lost their lives or been seriously injured?

In a recent article, it was stated that adding the lane is cost prohibitive because there is not enough gravel under the shoulders for widening. That did not seem to prevent the addition of turning lanes on Minot Avenue and Hotel Road.

It makes more sense to spend that money on Route 4 and not at intersections with few or no injuries and where the speed limit is only 35 mph.

Come on officials, where is your common sense?
