Why is it that when a person gets slapped around, it is called an assault. If a person gets punched, kicked and/or beaten up, it is an assault and battery, etc.

Yet, when two people fight in a ring and fight to a point where a person is knocked unconscious, bleeding profusely (as reported in the Sun Journal April 21), it is called a sport?

Why is that? Is it because of money?

Cruelty to animals seems to be taken more seriously than people. Even dog and cock fights are against the law.

With all the turmoil in the world today, it seems to me that fighting should not be encouraged, especially as a sport.

It is no wonder to me that there is so much turmoil in this country when fighting is promoted as a sport.
