LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering several events on Tuesday, May 7.
The center will have a free movie night for young adults, ages 19 to 39, who have been impacted by cancer. NOMO (Not On My Own) Movie Night will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the center, 29 Lowell St.
NOMO, the center’s new young adult social support group, will show the movie “50/50” featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen. The film is a comedy based on a true story of two best friends whose lives are changed by cancer.

The center will offer a free personal wellness program for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Fit for Life, a six-week class, will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 7, 9 through June 11, 13, at the center.
Health fitness specialist Michele Lamare will present an overview of exercising with cancer, pre- and post-treatment, including precautions, benefits and a recommended exercise plan.
The class will feature aerobic, strengthening, balance and flexibility exercise done at an intensity and pace appropriate for individuals going through cancer treatment. Preregistration is required.
A free positive living workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, “Positive Living Techniques,” will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.
Wellness educator Marcy Covey said keeping a good attitude toward life is a great way to feel empowered. Preregistration is required.
