PARIS — The sixth season at the Fox School Farmers Market will begin Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the old Mildred Fox School at 10 East Main St., presently the Oxford Hills Christian Academy.
The market is proud to be one of only a handful of “growers only” markets in the state, which means that every vendor at the market grows and/or produces everything they offer for sale.
The market exceeds state guidelines as a conscious choice. Many of the farmers work sustainably and/or organically to operate their small specialty farms. Farmers are on hand to explain how the food is being grown, why they chose to grow a certain variety or how to cook or store your purchases.
Several of the farmers further community peace of mind by donating products not sold at the market to the Harvest For Hunger Program run by the Oxford County Cooperative Extension. Community members are encouraged to donate garden excess to this worthwhile program.
Pick up a current schedule of farmer demonstrations and business guests with any of the vendors throughout the season.
The market is held each Saturday morning, rain or shine, through mid-October.
For more information contact Patricia Verrill, market coordinator, at 207-674-5903. Find us and “Like” the market and many of the vendors on Facebook. Stop by the market and sign up for the weekly newsletter.
