Elephants, penguins, giraffes, oh my! Aerial silk, hoop dancing, contact juggling, stilt walkers and much more!

SOUTH PARIS — On Saturday, May 11, Circus Olé! and Feast of Fools will hit the stage at the Four Seasons Conference Center, 187 Main Street,  for one night only from 7 to 9 p.m.

Performing artists in aerial silk, stilt walking, hoop dancing, contact juggling and giant puppeteering hail from as far away as Portland, Boston, and western Maine. There is sure to be something to dazzle all ages at this animal-cruelty-free circus.

The Gypsy Relics will mesmerize circus goers with their specialty of Middle Eastern dance jazzed up with a little theater and zany fun.

Fresh from her voyages at sea, Miss Bliss is a mercurial kaleidoscope of light, laughter and piratitude. Her performance art is one-part fantasy, two-parts frolic and five-parts surprise package. She may delight you by riding an elephant, falling from the ceiling, or singing in the shower with a fruit basket on her head. In addition, the modern dance moves of the Navaeh Dance Company will be featured along with stilt walkers, a lion tamer, a snake charmer, a frog man, and lots of silly fun with animals.

This event also serves to raise awareness about the plight of real circus animals. Donations will be accepted for In Defense of Animals, a nonprofit organization that helps support sanctuaries for retired and injured circus animals. The event is a Rijah Newell production. Visit www.rijahnewell.com for more information.

Tickets are available in advance for $10 for adults, $6 for children 12-and-under, at www.circus-ole.com and The Draft House, 187 Main Street. Contact ringmaster Rijah Newell by email at [email protected] or call 207-890-0545.
