I am writing concerning the labeling of genetically modified organisms. I have noticed that my vitamin D supplement, omega-3 fish oil supplement, and melatonin all have labels that read “these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.”

The vitamin and supplement industry is required to carry warning labels, even though doctors recommend their use and they have been linked to better health. Why isn’t the GMO industry also required to label its brands?

Labels have been placed on other products, such as organic produce, foods that contain certain food allergens, vitamin supplements, etc., and all are required to put the ingredient list and nutritional information on the labels. Why not list if there are GMOs, too?
