LIVERMORE FALLS — The downtown will light up Friday, May 24, with the annual History Night and Cruise-in.
People will have a chance to learn about the history of the Androscoggin River, which is the theme of this year’s event.
It will take place from 4 to 8 p.m.
“We usually get 1,000 to 1,500 people depending on the weather,” Kenny Jacques, a member of the Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group, said. The organization sponsors the annual event.
There will be food, music, vendors, children’s games and more offered.
Historic displays will be featured by the Livermore/Livermore Falls Historical Society in the Knowlton Block on Main Street.
The Jay Historical Society will have display a History of Riley, a former village along the river near Verso Paper Corp. on the Riley Road in Jay. The display will be set up at the Lamb Block on Depot Street, adjacent to the Androscoggin Valley Medical Arts Center. The center will also hold an open house.
The so-called Dreamland Theater will present “Along the Androscoggin” at the Town Office.
The Maine Paper and Heritage Museum on Church Street will be open to the public to browse the historical items related to the paper industry.
An antique tractor display will be set up at Gateway Park at the corner of Route 4 and Main Street.
An antique auto and motorcycle cruise-in will be held along Main and Depot streets and in the parking lot of the Lamb Block and the medical center.
Jason Gibbs will offer free hay wagon rides.
Matt and the Barnburners will perform its music at the Lamb Block.
Barry Wood, The Racket Factory and the Moose Creek Cloggers will perform at the Livermore Falls Gazebo, located along the river near the Town Office.
Representatives of the Western Maine Family Health Center, a HealthReach center, will give tours of the newly renovated Lamb Block.
Otis Ventures LLC is also expected to offer tractor rides.
The First United Pentecostal Youth Group will host children’s games and activities at the Geneva Hodgkin’s Memorial Park, formerly known as Union Park, at the corner of Union and Main streets.
Food items and vendors will be offered including from Area Youth Sports, Livermore Falls Fire Association, Relay for Life Team, Kenney Smith for the Livermore Elementary School, Treat Memorial Library and the Good Neighbors Tri-Town Fuel Assistance Program.
