AUBURN — Gifford’s Ice Cream secured two key Auburn Suburban Little League Major Division baseball victories in two days.
 
On Friday, Gifford’s got a strong pitching performance from Ethan Brown and Nick Hathaway, fanning eight and four, respectively, in a 5-0 win over East Auburn. Brown also delivered the big blow offensively for Gifford’s with a two-out, bases-clearing double in the fifth inning. Jacob Schofield ripped a double for Gifford’s as well.  East Auburn was paced offensively by Will Cassidy.
 
Gifford’s returned to the diamond the next day and picked up a sound 13-0 victory over Hardy, Wolf & Downing. Austin Brown went 3 for 3 and had two doubles for Gifford’s and picked up the win on the mound.  Ricky Cote had three hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in five runs.  For the attorneys, Michael Potvin had a single and worked hard behind the plate.

Pepsi also plated a pair of ASLL Major victories.

The weekned opened with a 10– 3 victory over Austin Associates on Saturday.

Storm Jipson was the starter for Pepsi and allowed three runs over four innings while striking out 10. Nate Farnsworth relieved Jipson and pitched two scoreless innings.

Farnsworth, Dylan Sellinger and Gunner Winslow helped fuel the offense attack for Pepsi, with each player reaching base in all four at bats. Drew Bennett had a strong relief performance for Austin’s, allowing only one run in three innings. Nick Hartley and Hunter Fisher led the offense for Austin’s, reaching base multiple times.

Pepsi wrapped up the weekend with a 15 – 5 victory over Hardy, Wolf and Downing on Sunday. Sellinger struck out nine batters in four innings of work and Patrick Anthoine had one inning of scoreless relief to lead Pepsi on the mound.

Anthoine also reached base in all five at bats, including the game-ending double in the fifth. Keenan St. Pierre, Tyler Jalbert and Landon Morrisette reached base multiple times to lead the Pepsi offense. Joel Stubbs led the offense for HWD, reaching base multiple times and scoring two runs.
