LEWISTON — Friends, relatives and coworkers of a local woman, Diane Martin Barrell, will host a benefit dance featuring live music by Swagger at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, in the Baxter Lounge of the Colisee, 190 Birch St. Barrell recently died while awaiting a double-lung transplant, leaving her family with uncovered medical expenses.
Barrell, age 47, grew up in Lewiston, graduated from Lewiston High School, married and resided in Auburn with her husband and two children. Prior to her death, Barrell frequently travelled for medical care and was often hospitalized in Lewiston, Boston and Pittsburg. She died at Massachusetts General Hospital in March.
The benefit dance, an upbeat celebration of Barrell’s life, is open to the public age 21 and older. There will be a social hour from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a cash bar and free appetizers; also, raffles, a 50/50 drawing and dancing will be part of the event.
