MECHANIC FALLS — A car wash will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8, at American Legion Post 150, 41 Elm St.
Plant sale postponed
NEW GLOUCESTER — The sixth annual Rooting for Democracy plant sale, hosted by the New Gloucester Democratic Committee, has been postponed until Saturday, June 15, due to predicted rain on the original date.

Knights plan spaghetti dinner
AUBURN — The Andy Valley Knights of Columbus, Council 8742 will sponsor a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, June 23, at Sacred Heart Church, corner of Minot and Western Avenue, following the 11 a.m. mass.
The dinner will raise money for the KOC 8742 Charity Fund. Price is $8 for adults 12 and over, $6 for children 11 and under with children under 6 free. All are invited.
Tom Cremona, PGK, will serve his famous sauce. Being a true Italian, Tom’s homemade sauce is an old family recipe which he has been perfecting for more than 30 years. Menu includes salad with a choice of three different dressings, spaghetti cooked al dente, homemade sauce, garlic or Italian bread, a large variety of desserts, water, coffee, tea and punch.
Mediterranean diet workshop
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free Mediterranean diet workshop to anyone interested in learning more about eating healthy. “Beyond Olive Oil: The Mediterranean Diet and Cancer Prevention” will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
The traditional Mediterranean diet pattern has a well-established beneficial role in overall health. Most notably, the countries surrounding the Mediterranean have a lower incidence of heart disease and certain forms of cancer. Oncology Dietitian Amanda Ettinger will discuss the health benefits are and how to apply this eating plan to your own life.

Pickwick Club reads ‘Curiosity’
