AUBURN — Marilyn T. Bonney, 82, of Auburn, died on May 28 at her home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Brockton, Mass. to Albert and Pauline Thistle. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1949.
Marilyn worked as a horse groom and trainer for racing stables from Maine to Florida. She often said the happiest times were when she was working with horses. At a young age she became involved with race horses and they became the love of her life. She never met an animal she didn’t like.
Marilyn was a breast cancer survivor since 1979. She touched many people with her compassionate love of life and sense of humor. Although Marilyn never had any children, she became mom to everyone who needed one. Her grandchildren from her extended family were very close to her heart. Being as outspoken and stubborn as she was, she will be greatly missed by those who love her.
She is survived by brothers, Richard, John and Ralph Mann; nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephew; stepdaughters and stepsons; along with grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; ex-husband, Thomas Bonney; two brothers, George and Larry Mann; sister, Sandy Gates; niece, Sherry Trent.
