JAY — Two children from Lewiston were injured Friday night when an ATV they were riding with an adult hit a stump in a yard and tipped over.
It happened during a family reunion at a camp at about 7 p.m. off Macomber Hill Road, Maine Warden Tom McKenney said Wednesday.
Driver Matt Churchill, 31, of Lewiston was riding with his son, Collin, 4, in front of him and his nephew, Nolan Breton, 7, behind him on the Arctic Cat machine, McKenney said.
Neither child was wearing a helmet, he said.
Churchill was able to lift the ATV off all of them, he said.
The children received non-life threatening injuries. Churchill’s son received a broken arm, and his nephew received an eye laceration and a bump on his head, McKenney said. Churchill was not injured.
Both children were taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
The accident remains under investigation, he said.
Jay police and another Maine warden assisted McKenney.
