AUBURN — The first meeting of the Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association for the 2013-14 year will be held at the High Street Congregational Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The guest speaker will be Kristen Melville from the Auburn YMCA.
Lunch will be prepared by the ladies of the church and will consist of ham, macaroni and cheese, fresh vegetables and gingerbread with whipped cream. Turkey slices will be available for those with dietary restrictions. The cost of the meal is $10.
Membership dues are payable for the year in September and may be included with payment for the meal. Dues are $10 for retired educators and $6 for spouses. Members 85 years young and older are considered honorary members and no longer are asked to pay dues.
All retired educators and spouses are welcome to attend AREA meetings. Educators need not have taught in Androscoggin County, or even in the state of Maine. This is a chance to meet other retired educators and to hear what is happening at the state and national level. Meetings are held five times a year: September, October, November, March and April.
Make reservations by Sept. 6. Send reservations to Bruce and Beth Bell, 138 Sunderland Drive, Auburn, ME 04210, or call 782-4413. Indicate if you would prefer turkey or ham.
