MEXICO — The Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (the “Green Church”) is announcing events listed on its September calendar.
Sunday, Sept. 8: Holy Communion will be served by the pastor and deacons during the 10 a.m. worship service. Sunday School classes for the children will resume. Children attend worship at 10 a.m. and move to their classrooms after Pastor Izzie Radford-Nash’s family message.
The choir will rehearse at 9 a.m. and again following worship. Coffee hour and social time will be held in the dining room after worship.
Monday, Sept. 9: Board of trustees will hold its first meeting of the fall at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 10: Adult Bible Study will resume after a summer hiatus. The devotional publication, “The Upper Room,” will be used as a discussion resource. All are welcome to attend the session, held at 11 a.m. in the Conference Room on the main floor.
Saturday, Sept. 14: A roast pork supper will be served in the church dining room at 5 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 15: Following the worship service, members will have a potluck lunch and a council meeting in the dining room. Reports and updates will be given by church officers and chairmen of committees. Also on this date, church members are invited to attend a party to Bless the Pilgrim Lodge Capital Campaign from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pilgrim Lodge on Cobboseecontee Lake. Pilgrim Lodge is owned and operated by the Maine Conference of the United Church of Christ and has been attended by many children and adults from the Mexico church since the 1950s.
Tuesday, Sept. 17: The Women’s Fellowship will hold its first meeting of the season at 1 p.m. in the church dining room. The group hosts social gatherings, supports fundraising efforts and assists the Mission Committee. All women of the church are invited to the meetings, held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month beginning in October.
