Lakeside OES to observe School Days
WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Grange/Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road.
Lakeside will honor teachers, and the stations of marshal and chaplain and will celebrate School Days. Members and visiting members are asked to bring supplies for the local schools.
The district’s “Traveling Teapot,” a symbol of hospitality, left Electa Chapter in Bowdoinham and has traveled back to Casco in Freeport.
This year the District Deputy Grand Matrons of Maine are offering an oval pin emblazoned with “Faith, Family and Friends,” an eagle and a teapot, symbols of the worthy grand matron and worthy grand patron, for a minimum donation of $5.
The proceeds will go to Life Flight of Maine and the Children’s Cancer Center of Maine, two of the charities the worthy grand matron and patron support.
Women officers are asked to wear colored gowns, men either tuxes or dark suits. For more information, call the secretary at 375-2698.
Watercolor classes through Auburn AE
AUBURN — Auburn Adult Education is offering “Art of Watercolor” with art instructor Barbara Hathaway of Wilton. The class will start Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Edward Little High School, Room 142. The 6 to 7:30 p.m. class is for beginners to semi-pro and will go for five sessions.
Students will learn to mix colors, add light and shadows, water and reflections, landscape items, sunsets, clouds and details. Hathaway will give a demonstration that students may follow or paint at their own pace. Tips on matting and framing will be included.

Pownal church to remember 9-11
POWNAL — The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a church service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, to remember those who gave their lives on that day in 9-11-2001. There will be a bag pipes and an honor guard. All are welcome.

Group is planning pizza party
LEWISTON — The MS support group will hold a pizza party on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.

Free set dancing classes at school
AUBURN — Set dancing classes will be offered starting Monday, Sept. 16, at Edward Little High School.
Set dancing originated in Ireland. Sets are danced to polka, reel and jig music in groups of four to eight participants using several easy-to-learn basic steps. Beginners get special mentoring from seasoned dancers.
The free classes will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in room 102. All are invited for a free trial session. For more information, call 933-9761.
