1945 – 2013

LEWISTON — Ronald M. Teixeira, 67, formerly of 11 Lisbon St., Lewiston and Schooner Estates in Auburn, passed away at Russell Park Manor on Sunday, Sept. 1, after battling many health issues for a number of years.

Ron was born on Oct. 6, 1945, in New Bedford, Mass., the son of Manuel Teixeira Jr., and Violette Levasseur Teixeira. Ron worked for many years in the culinary arts field, being employed at many local establishments ranging from the Steer House to Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute and finally Central Maine Medical Center. His final years were spent working at Central Maine Medical Center in the housekeeping department, from which he eventually retired due to health reasons.

Ron attended school in New Bedford, Mass., and after the family relocated to Lewiston, finished his education, receiving his GED from Lewiston High School. Ron felt very proud of this accomplishment.

Ron enjoyed going out to eat, trying his luck at scratch tickets and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the many trips taken to visit his favorite aunts, cousins and family in New Bedford, Mass.

He leaves behind his sister, Laurel Allen and her husband, James, of Winthrop; his brother, Andre and wife, Joan, and his brother, Daniel, all of Lewiston; his sister-in-law, Carmen Teixeira of Lisbon; two special aunts from New Bedford, Mass.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brother, Alfred Teixeira. He was also predeceased by a brother, Leonard, who died in infancy.

Ron’s family thanks the staff at Schooner Estates for making Ron feel so welcome; he enjoyed the years he spent there. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Russell Park Manor for the care and help he received since moving there in June, especially a few special staff members. Condolences and a video tribute may be accessed online at www.albert-burpee.com.
