Performing in “Arsenic and Old Lace” are Austin Loukas (Mortimer) and Jordan Holmes (Elaine) at Schoolhouse Arts Center from Sept. 20 through Oct. 6.

STANDISH — Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake will present “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring. The play is a farcical black comedy revolving around Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, N.Y., as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves. His family includes two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, in addition to a host of equally colorful characters.

“Arsenic and Old Lace” is directed by Paul Bell. Cast members include Paul Bell and Chris Roberts from Portland, Debbie Keiter Moore and Jamie Eckstein from Standish, Jonna Boure and Austin Loukas from Windham, David Murray from Falmouth, Brandon Johnson and Sally Chase from Gorham, Caryn Wintle from Limmington, Danielle Raitt from Waterboro, and Jordan Holmes.

Performances will be held Sept. 20-Oct. 6. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for students and seniors.
