1924 – 2013
AUBURN — Jean A. Conley, 88, of Lewiston, died early, Sunday morning Sept. 22, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, following a brief illness, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 1, 1924, the daughter of Dr. Daniel Jerome and Blanche (Sabourin) Murphy and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
Jean was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston. She taught in the Lewiston public schools and at St. Joseph’s School for many years.
She had an interest in antiques and liked going to auctions with her husband, Joseph. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her extended family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the family cottage in Kennebunkport.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph G. Conley, whom she married on Oct. 9, 1948, of Lewiston. She was a devoted mother to Paul B. Conley and his wife, Jean, of Quincy, Mass., Mary Beth Schoeninger and her husband, Carl, of Beverly Hills, Mich., and Peter J. Conley and his wife, Lilly, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Matthew, James, Katie, Catherine and Maureen; and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Suzanne Feehan of Annapolis, Md.; and one brother, Paul P. Murphy of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her parents; and three brothers, Neil, John and Daniel Murphy.
