LISBON — Christopher Pierce is the new owner of catalog printer Dingley Press — again.

Pierce bought Dingley Press from The Sheridan Group, a publisher based in Hunt Valley, Md., according to a Thursday news release. He originally bought the company in 1981 after working there for nine years. Pierce sold Dingley Press to Sheridan in 2004. The company employs more than 500 people.

Pierce stayed at the company in various roles until retiring in 2011 and becoming deputy commissioner of finance for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, according to the statement.

Pierce approached Sheridan earlier this year to discuss purchasing the business.

“I am very excited to be reunited with the great people at the Dingley Press,” Pierce said. “I very much look forward to continued growth at Dingley in the years ahead.”

Dingley Press will continue to produce catalogs from its Lisbon facility.

Pierce, a resident of Cumberland Foreside, is a graduate of Bowdoin College. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards in the state of Maine. He created the Christopher and Nancy Pierce Foundation in 2004 to assist and support Maine’s nonprofit institutions, according to the statement.
