DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the inquiry from Peg of Mexico (Oct. 2), I would like to inform her and others that cancer awareness bracelets can be found at the Central Maine Medical Center gift shop operated by the Woman’s Hospital Association.
They are made in the United States and are reasonably priced. Eighteen beads of various colors represent various forms of cancers. For more information you may call the gift shop at 795-2295. — Debbie Angelides, manager, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw the Oct. 2 letter about the cancer awareness bracelets. I work at Central Maine Medical Center and have been making the cancer awareness bracelets for three years.
I make them with crystal beads and charge $20. I also make individual bracelets for each cancer in 16 different colors. — Elaine D. Labbe, [email protected], 207-212-8754
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I make bracelets, necklaces, earrings and pins for cancer awareness.. You can view the bracelets on my eBay account if you do an advanced search and look for seller Ladyhawk61. WABI-TV aired a story about my cancer awareness jewelry on Sept. 3.
If interested, I can be reached via email. I can also send photos of other items. — Dianne St Hilaire, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: My son, Dustin Bisson, sold cancer bracelets for the Dempsey Challenge in 2011 and 2012. We do have some available and have taken orders for solid colors as well.
As the challenge has so much support, we have been researching other causes. We have been seriously looking into a fundraiser for animals with cancer and family’s who can not afford the treatments. I know our pets are part of our family, and there does not seem to be much as far as assistance for this cause. — Angie Bisson, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I still have a few cancer bracelets left to sell. They are $10 each and come in two sizes. They make a thoughtful gift to a person who has cancer as a way of reaching out to let them know they are being thought of and prayed for. Sun Spots, you’re the best! — Elaine, 212-1920
DEAR SUN SPOTS: In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Safe Voices will be selling purple bows for $5 throughout the month to help raise awareness. If you are interested in purchasing a bow or want more information, please contact me. — Kim Preble, 795-6744, [email protected]
