1924 – 2013

AUBURN — Kathleen May (Fahey) Berthaume, 89, a resident of Montello Manor in Lewiston, died Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, with her loving family by her side following a lingering illness.

She was born in Milo on May 19, 1924, the daughter of Thomas Fahey and Katherine (McCormick) Fahey. She attended school in Livermore Falls and graduated from Bridgton High School. She married George Berthaume. Kay worked for many years at Chick-A-Dee Restaurant, L & P Variety in Turner and Stride Rite Shoe in Auburn. Kay and her daughters lived on Waterman Road in Auburn for several years, before she relocated to Livermore Falls, after her retirement.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and spending time with her family. Her family and friends will have many special memories of Kay and her smart-mouthed Irish wit they laughed over throughout the years. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Peggy Rollins of Lewiston and Pamela Walton of Auburn; grandchildren, Melissa Theriault of Mexico, Sheri Hodgkin of Turner, Joey Rollins of Livermore, Tim McKenzie Jr. of Auburn, Katie Travers of Auburn and Nicole Walton of Lewiston; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a niece, Faye Ann Laverdiere.

She was predeceased by parents, Thomas and Katherine Fahey; her son, Robert Rallis; her daughter, Patty Souther; siblings, Marguerite and Phillip Fahey, and Phyllis Hodgkins; and grandchildren, Julie and Tommy Souther and twins, Robert and Robin Rollins.
