1928 – 2013
AUBURN — Raymond W. Robert, 85, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, with his family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston on June 3, 1928, a son of the late Francois Xavier and Yvonne Fortin Robert. He was educated in local schools and was married July 29, 1950, to Marilyn L. Pellerin.
Ray started working at a young age at the Pepperill Mill and later worked at the Bonified Mill in Lisbon for 20 years, after which he worked at Philips-Elmet for 22 years. During that time, he worked for five years at the Jewish Community Center doing maintenance.
He enjoyed dancing and working around the house, but especially enjoyed his family. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, where he also served as an acolyte, and the Knights of Columbus Holy Cross Council No. 12652.
He is survived by is wife, Marilyn, of Lewiston; a daughter, Jeannette Cournoyer and husband, Robert, of Lewiston; three sons, Gerard Robert and wife, Ruth, of Lisbon, Richard Robert and Maurice Robert, both of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Rebecca Langlois, Jennifer Robert, Steven Robert, Jesse Cournoyer and Christopher Robert; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Julianna Langlois, and Bailey, Belle and Cohen Robert; and two sisters, Murielle Majunder of Auburn and Laurianne Lambert and husband, Roland, of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Martel.
