RUMFORD — Two students and a teacher at Mountain Valley High School earned bragging rights in the third annual MVHS Big Deer Contest.

Freshman Nate Legere won the contest by harvesting a doe weighing in at 132 pounds.

Senior William Laurinaitis took second place with a 122-pound buck. Social studies teacher Jarrod Dumas bagged a 103-pound buck and earned third place.

In addition to bragging rights, Legere earned a $20 gift certificate to the Mexico Trading Post. Approximately 30 hunters vied for the prize.

Art teacher Steve McGinty sponsors the annual event and contributes the prize.
