FARMINGTON — One of the purposes of the Franklin County Retired Educators is to support practicing educators in their classrooms. Through their annual auction, they raise money to give to Franklin County schools on a rotating basis.
This year from a pool of Mt. Blue RSD applicants, the grant was awarded to Gail Carlson and her classes of American Sign Language students. The money will help fund the ASL Talent Show known as the “M.A.D. Experience” (Mt. Blue ASL Day) with special guest JJ Jones. The students’ goal is to raise $3003 to cover expenses for the event.
JJ Jones uses mime techniques and multimedia to perform and educate about the deaf culture. He will conduct workshops for students as well as a public performance in the immersion experience.
The public performance is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the Bjorn Auditorium on the Mt. Blue campus.
