1947 – 2014

AUBURN — Gloria Elaine Demers, 66, of Auburn, died Monday, Jan. 20, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on July 28, 1947, the daughter of Willard Fredrick and Beatrice Katherine Hamner Thayer. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1964. She had been employed as a CNA at nursing homes in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Most recently, she worked for John F. Murphy Homes as a caregiver.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with her dog, Mercedes, whom she had for six years, and Bennie for 11 years before that. She was a loving, nurturing mother, grandmother and friend; time spent with her family was precious to her. Her door was always open to her friends at the esplanade, with hot coffee available.

She is survived by her son, John Noyes; her daughter, Wonda Lever and her husband, John; and grandchildren, Jennifer Lever, David Lever and his fiancée, Rebecca Dubois, John Libby, Cassie Harris and Brittany Noyes.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Gaston Demers; and her sister, Joanne Childs.

Her family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House for making her last few months as comfortable and as close to home as possible.
