WASHINGTON (AP) – Two companies are recalling some 85,000 gas grills and other components because of flame hazards and a risk of lacerations.

Marshall Gas Controls of San Marcos, Texas, is recalling 35,000 defective gas controls and regulators that were sold with Char-Broil, Kenmore and Thermos brand grills last April and May, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The controls were reportedly assembled with an undersized disc that could become dislodged, leak propane gas and cause a fire. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Grand Hall Enterprise Co. of Taiwan is also recalling 50,000 “Member’s Mark” gas grills following several reports that the product’s front edge is too sharp and a risk for cuts, the CPSC said.

Four people have been cut while trying to move the grill or reach under the control panel.

Member’s Mark grills were sold exclusively at Sam’s Club stores from August 2000 through December 2001 for about $600. Only units with model number Y0005XC-2 are included in the recall.

The Char-Broil grills with malfunctioning regulators were called “Quick Set,” “Big Easy,” and “Patio Caddie.” They were sold under model numbers 463531503, 463531703, 463631703, 463713303, 463728403, 463731803, 463823303, 463826803 and 475496003.

Recalled Kenmore regulators were sold with the “Wide Body” and “Diamond Flame” grills under model numbers 415.162020, 415.162040, 415.162060 and 415.162050.

Thermos sold the regulators with its “Quick Set” model under numbers 461631603, 461631903, 461633803 and 461733803.

The grills were sold nationwide at home and appliance stores from April to May 2003.
