1943 – 2014

LEWISTON — Rosaire Roy Jr., 71, of 8 Amanda Drive, North Turner, died Wednesday, April 2, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following a long illness.

Born in St. Agathe on Feb. 1, 1943, he was the son of Rosaire and Ida Bourgoin Roy Sr. Educated in Fort Kent, he married the former Marie Rossingnol in 1963. For many years, he worked as a truck driver for J & R Builders in New York. After moving back to Maine in 1976, he worked for Decoster until fully retiring at the age of 65.

Rosaire loved spending time with his dog, Buddy, enjoyed going to camp in the summers, giving his wife advice on the birdhouses that she built and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Philip’s Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of North Turner; two sons, Steven and wife, Brenda, of Lewiston, and David and wife, Melissa, of Greene; a daughter, Sylvia and husband, Danny Cozart, of Leeds; two brothers, Phil Roy and wife, Dianne, of Belgrade, and Sylvio Roy of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Cecile and husband, Claude Roy, of Van Buren, Edwina and husband, Gerald Roy, of Frenchville, and Brenda and husband, Dean Cyr, of Lewiston; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Roy of Turner; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Rosaire Roy III; two brothers, Angelo and Romeo Roy; and a granddaughter, Amanda Roy.
