POLAND — John Weinrich will be the speaker at a program planned by Friends of Ricker Library on Friday, April 11. He will present an illustrated lecture on backyard birds. The program will be held in the community room of the library, 1211 Maine St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.

Weinrich will share interesting facts and observations about the birds that visit our yards and charm us with their colors and songs. A resident of Newcastle, Weinrich is vice president of the Midcoast Audubon Society and a teacher of ornithology at Senior College. He leads birding field trips and is a repeat guest of the library, back by popular request.

An auction of unique and special birdhouses will take place in conjunction with the evening’s program.
