1933 – 2014

AUBURN — Marion Snell Grondin, 81, formerly of Riley Street in Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, April 10, at Clover Health Care, following a period of failing health.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 14, 1933, the daughter of Maurice and Elmira (Weymouth) Snell. Marion married the love of her life, Louis Grondin Sr., on Nov. 1, 1952. They raised two children and provided them with a happy, loving home growing up.

She was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan, and watching them play was always a joy to her. She was also known to be young at heart, and used to accompany her grandchildren to area rock concerts and local softball games.

Her other hobbies included keeping up to date on the Hollywood scene and doing word searches. She also had a special place in her heart for the family pets, Storm and Nerick. She had a huge heart and was always willing to do whatever she could to help anyone who needed it. She will be loved and missed by many.

Survivors include one daughter, Rose Leger, of Turner; one brother, John Snell and wife, Ruth, of Jay; one half-brother, Nick Coates and wife, Linda, of Albion; three grandchildren, Tracy Grondin and partner, Steve Nadeau, Shawna Landry and husband, Bill, and Wendi Day; three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Timothy and Alexis; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Louis Jr.; as well as three sisters, Evelyn, Doris and Caroline; and two brothers, Bertrand and Maurice.
