BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Community Band will perform its spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the West Parish Congregational Church.

Some highlights of this concert will include Man of La Mancha arranged by Justin Williams, The Girl I Left Behind Me arranged by Leroy Anderson, Dies Irae (from Verdi’s Requiem) by Giuseppe Verdi, St. Louis Blues by W.C. Handy, and Music of the Beatles arranged by Michael Sweeney. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

The band, directed by Patricia Boyle-Wight, is preparing for Memorial Day parades in Locke Mills, Bethel and Bryant Pond, a parade on Mollyockett Day and the end of summer concert on Monday, Aug.11. The community band has been organized for 20 years and continues to provide music for the communities.

The band rehearses on Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the West Parish Congregational Church. New members are always welcome. Young people from area middle schools or high schools are welcome to join the band for the summer.
