1951 – 2014

OXFORD — Kristen L. Kane, 62, of Oxford died unexpectedly Saturday, April 26, at her home.

She was born on July 30, 1951, the daughter of Bernice Paine Kane Merrill and the late James F. Kane. She attended school in Oxford, graduating from Oxford Hills High School in 1969, and the University of Maine in 1973. She taught at the Guy E. Rowe school a short time before working for the U.S. Postal Service, first at Oxford, the at South Paris for 30 years.

Kris loved her family, and was considered to be the best daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend anyone could be blessed with. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved collecting “stuff.” Kris had recently purchased the Kane home where she grew up and was preparing to move into it this summer.

She is survived by her mother Bernice (Bee) Merrill; her stepfather, Clarence Merrill; a son, Ryan Kane and his wife, Rae-Ann; grandchildren, Adam, Alison and Kensen Kane; sisters Donna Staples and her husband, Spudie, Mary Ellen Louque and her husband,Vincent, and Carol Smith and her husband, Jim; a sister-in-law Carol Roma Kane and her faithful companion, Peanut.

She was predeceased by her father, James F. Kane; and her brother, James K. Kane.
