1971 – 2014
COLUMBIA, Md. — Erik Jon Girardin, 42, a resident of Baltimore, Md., and raised in Jay, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, as a result of an accident while attending the M-3 music concert in Columbia, Md.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1971, in Lackawanna, N.Y., the son of Gerard Martin Girardin and Sharon Lee Murphy Girardin. He was a 1990 graduate of Jay High School and 1994 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, receiving his degree in chemical engineering. Erik worked as a chemical engineer in Maryland at Premo Industrials.
Erik was passionate about music, especially rock music featuring skilled guitarists. He would listen to songs for hours and then play them back — by ear — on his own guitar. Erik was also a Washington Redskins fanatic and was committed to watching them play every game, no matter what. Mysteriously, every time he relocated for work, he moved closer and closer to the Redskins stadium.
He is survived by his parents, Gerard and Sharon Girardin, of Jay; and his sister, Heide Girardin Hassing and her husband, Erik, of Stanhope, N.J.
