RUMFORD — This year’s Prom Committee at Mountain Valley High School has decided on “The Great Gatsby” as their theme. The prom will be at the Rumford Town Hall from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

“The Great Gatsby” is a book or movie set in the Roaring Twenties, a time of great economic prosperity. The Twenties saw the evolution of jazz, flappers and bootlegging.

Junior Adelle Oswald is part of the planning committee and explains, “That’s where we need some community involvement. We are trying to find people who could bring antique cars to the Rumford Town Hall that night to go with our theme.”

She continued, “We could use the cars as a backdrop to our pictures, before the prom. Antique cars should be there by 6 p.m.”

If you have an antique car that you would like to park in front of the Town Hall, contact Leanne Virgin or Adelle Oswald by Facebook or leave a message at 364-0890.
