June 2, 1924 – May 18, 2014

AUBURN — Barbara Helen Hodges Taylor was born in Charleston, W.Va. In 1943, she went to Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., majoring in elementary education. She married William A. Taylor, a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene in New England. She had two daughters, Judith and Mary-Beth.

After Bill’s death, Barbara returned to Charleston, where the beautiful hills and family called her back. She lived there for several years, before moving to Maine 12 years ago to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Barbara leaves her daughters, Judith B. Taylor and husband, the Rev. Stephen Carnahan, and Mary-Beth Taylor and husband, Dr. Douglas Smith; and grandchildren, Sarah and William Taylor Carnahan and Miley and Max Smith-Taylor.

Barbara believed in being a friend to the friendless and was especially drawn to children. She believed in the love of Jesus, and that she would be with him and her loved ones after death.
