NORWAY — The first Norway Family Fishing Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Butters Park.
The event is a family educational day to teach age 16 and under how to fish; this is not a competition. Children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
Start at the registration table to sign in; for those without a fishing pole, one will be provided to borrow for the event.
Once a fish is caught, go to the Norway-Paris Fishing Association tables and trace your fish on paper; then they will show you how to clean your fish and how to cook it right on site.
Other organizations that will plan activities that day are Mollyockett Trout Unlimited, Healthy Oxford Hills, Western Foothills Land Trust, Norway Lakes Association, Community Lakes Association, CEBE, Roberts Farm, Bryant Pond 4H, Norway Historical Society, Maine Game Wardens and more.
