1939 – 2014
LEWISTON — Merle Clark Allen Sr., 75, of Rangeley, died Sunday, May 25, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 8, 1939, a son of Robert and Charlotte (Clark) Allen. He was a graduate of Leavitt Institute and was a pipefitter for Local 783. On Oct. 27, 1956, he married “Pat” Eaton in Auburn.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, stock-car racing and snowmobiling. He was very active in the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club for 20 years and served as past president and trail master. He was also instrumental in having a bridge installed over the Magalloway River (Clark Crossing).
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Pat Allen, of Rangeley; four children, Donna Allen and her partner, Nancy Caron, of Oakland, Debbi Boothby of Buckfield, Bob Allen and his wife, Tammy, of Buckfield and Tim Allen and his wife, Donna, of Rangeley; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Merle Clark Allen Jr. “Buster” and Buster’s wife, Mary; his parents; a sister, Doris; and a brother, James.
