LEWISTON — The Maine Association of Nonprofits is offering diverse nonprofit management training in the Lewiston/Auburn region. The programs will focus on human resources, planning, and public policy and advocacy.
The first seminar, Employment Law Tricks and Traps, will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 9 at SeniorsPlus in Lewiston. Presenter is Sarah Newell. Cost is $50 for members, $100 for nonmembers. This SkillBuilder will help employers learn to navigate issues surrounding the ADA, the Maine Human Rights Act, the Maine Whistleblowers Act, the FMLA, and employee personnel files.
How to Deal with Difficult People — Argh! will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 18 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Presenter will be Craig Freshley. Cost is $50 and $100. Practical solutions will be offered for dealing with The Idea Killer, The Monopolizer, Mr. Go Along Now but Get You Later, and many other personalities, or rather behaviors. Learn how to transform their difficult energy into positive contributions.
A planning seminar, Project Management Toolbox — The Basics, will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at SeniorsPlus in Lewiston. Presenter will be Steven Mortimer. Cost is $50 and $100. This SkillBuilder defines the key components of pragmatic project plans that result in objectives being met on time and on budget. Project plan components include: tools, timelines, tasks, dependencies, milestones, roles, tracking and reporting, measuring success, issues/risks management and governance.
How to Influence Public Policy in Maine will be offered from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23 as an interactive online Webinar. Cost is $35 for members, $70 for nonmembers. Presenter will be Evelyn deFrees. Maine legislators and government officials are extremely accessible. They need and want to hear about solutions to vexing community issues from Maine nonprofit leaders. Join facilitators online as they demystify the policy making process in Maine.
