Effie J. Ray
1934 – 2009

LEWISTON — Effie Jane Ray passed away Monday, Aug. 24, suddenly after a lengthy illness with COPD at Russell Park Manor, where she had resided for seven years.

She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 16, 1934, the daughter of Arthur and Helen Jipson. She lived in Maine the majority of her life and also spent 23 years in Florida.

She was the life of the party and full of fun and cheer. She enjoyed spending time and reminiscing about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her sister, Nancy Burgess of Leeds and her daughter, Carol Annie of Monmouth, who visited her weekly; her four children, Beverly Harris of Florida, Kenny Packard Jr. of Lewiston, Chris Packard and Janice of Poland and Craig Packard and Benita of Louisiana; grandchildren, Christina Packard of Lewiston and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Florida and Louisiana; and her ex-husband, Kenneth Packard Sr. of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Guy Ray.

The family wishes to thank Pastor Ray Desrosier and the entire staff at Russell Park who treated her like family.
