PARIS — Distance learning courses will be held beginning Monday, June 9, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, offered through Oxford Hills Adult Education. The courses are available through distance learning via Tanberg, originating from Lawrence Adult Education in Fairfield.

The summer course offerings:

Algebra Skills for College: Acquire the foundation in algebra needed to be successful in college level math. Topics covered include real numbers and algebraic expressions, using formulas, solving linear equations and inequalities, operations and factoring of polynomials and solving quadratic equations.

The introductory course meets the algebra prerequisite for KVCC, CMMC and most community colleges. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays, starting June 9 for eight weeks with teacher Alverta Dyar. There is a $99 class fee and $10 lab fee.

Human Biology with Lab: The lab-based course is an introduction to general principles of biology through the study of the human body. Topics include basics of anatomy and physiology, development and aging, genetics and inheritance, immunity and human diseases, evolution, ecology, and human impacts on the environment.

The course is designed to meet the biology pre-requisite of most colleges and prepare students to be successful in anatomy and physiology.

It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 9 for eight weeks with teacher Alverta Dyar. Cost is $99 with a $10 lab fee.

College Prep Chemistry with Lab: The introduction to the basic concepts of chemistry includes the periodic table, nature of chemical bonds and properties of matter.

The course meets the prerequisite for KVCC, CMCC and most community colleges. It is recommended that students be proficient in algebra prior to taking the class, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 9 for eight weeks. Teacher will be Alverta Dyar. There is a $99 class fee and $10 lab fee.
