BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center will kick off Bath’s ArtWalk on June 20, as the CCAC 3rd Friday Concert Series continues with original rock music by Hollow Body Eclectic with opening act Liam Swift. In addition, there will be a reception for “The View Beyond” art exhibit featuring interpretations of big Maine skies, clouds, water and the horizon.
“Since September, we have been building momentum with concerts to coincide with our art gallery openings,” said Jennifer DeChant, executive director, Chocolate Church Arts Center. “Bath’s 3rd Friday ArtWalk spotlights our local creative economy and we [are] pleased to offer a venue where people can appreciate visual arts and enjoy a lively music performance.”
“The View Beyond” exhibit features pastel, oil, acrylic and encaustic works by Maine artists David Costello, Elizabeth Newman, kdb, Rebecca Kuprowicz and Sara Cox. The reception is open to the public from 5-7 p.m.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 3rd Friday Concert by world class Hollow Body Eclectic, comprised of Peter Alexander on guitars, Johannah Harkness on keyboards, Sheldon Bird on bass, and Tom Masucci on drums and percussion. The opening act for this concert, Liam Swift, is an amazing up-and-coming songwriter and performer who, at age 13, has already amassed awards and accolades. The Chocolate Church is at 804 Washington Street, and their “Annex Gallery” is one of the featured stops for the Art Walk.
The 3rd Friday Concert Series feature the area’s best folk, rock, and bluegrass musicians. Upcoming shows include Cilantro with Earl Bigelow on July 18, and The Cups with Matt Ferrel on August 15. Chocolate Church also produces Summer Saturdays of Music on the Bath Waterfront, with free concerts at 6 p.m. every Saturday from July 12 through Aug. 30.
